Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 August 2026

This policy explains what Caribbean Chit collects when you visit caribbeanchit.com, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it. If you buy a photograph or a video from us, our Terms of Service and Refund & Returns Policy cover the sale itself.

What we collect automatically

When you visit this site we may collect your IP address, your browser type and device information, the pages you visited and how long you spent on them, the site or link that referred you, and information gathered by cookies and similar technologies.

What you give us

If you contact us, subscribe to a newsletter, create an account or make a purchase, we may collect your name, email address, billing information, and anything else you choose to tell us. When you buy a video or photo, our payment processor collects the billing details — we never see or store your card number.

How we use it

To operate and maintain the site, process purchases and downloads, improve how the site works, respond to enquiries and support requests, prevent fraud and unauthorised activity, and meet our legal obligations.

Cookies

This site may use cookies and similar technologies to improve functionality, analyse traffic and enhance your browsing experience. When you first visit, a consent banner asks which cookies you are willing to allow: accept them all, reject everything that is not essential, or use Customize to choose category by category. Analytics and similar non-essential cookies are not set until you have made that choice. You can also disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may then stop working properly.

Photography and videography at public events

This site features photographs and videos captured by our team and by authorised freelance contributors at public events — Caribbean Carnival celebrations, J’ouvert, parades, festivals, concerts and other public gatherings. Because these events happen in public, individuals may appear in that footage as part of the event environment. Content is recorded for journalistic, documentary, historical, artistic, entertainment and promotional purposes.

If you appear in something

Get in touch through the contact form if you believe content featuring you should be reviewed for removal. We are not obliged to remove content lawfully captured at a public event, but we review every request on its own merits.

Third-party services

We use third parties for website hosting, payment processing, analytics, video delivery, membership management and other functions. These providers may collect information under their own privacy policies.

Logging in with Patreon

If you log in to this site with Patreon, we store the Patreon information the connection needs in order to work: your Patreon user id and username, your first, last and vanity names, and the id and URL of your Patreon campaign. If you ask us to delete your data, this is deleted with it and Patreon features stop working — you would need to log in with Patreon again to restore them.

Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, disclosure or misuse. No method of transmission or storage on the internet can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Ask us and we will action it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any change is posted on this page with a new revision date, and the policy that applies is the one published on the day you visited.
